Как известно, после февральской революции какое-то количество евреев, крестившихся "из убеждения" ("что лучше быть профессором в Петербурге, чем меламедом в Эйшишках"), вернулось к вере предков, поскольку надобность в справке о крещении отпало. Однако, оказывается, после октябрьского переворота тоже происходили не менее интересные вещи:
Despite the overwhelming evidence that Bolshevism was in no sense a "Jewish movement," both the opponents and the supporters of Bolshevism saw it as such. Adherents of the old regime called the new Soviet government a "Jewish government" and professed to believe that Russia had "fallen into the hands of the Jews." The British consul in Kiev was convinced that the Bolshevik leadership could be influenced by the Zionists since, after all, they were of the same people. According to one report, converted Jews in Moscow "reconverted," believing the Bolsheviks to be very pro-Jewish, and "there were instances where Christians, genuine Christians, decided to convert to Judaism after the Revolution."

Откуда он это сказал, где и с кем это происходило, как и какие раввины реагировали на столь необычные просьбы - ничего, к сожалению, не рассказывается. Но теоретически могу поверить. Особенно с учетом как белой пропаганды, так и общеизвестных фактов тогдашней жизни: " "Anyone who had the misfortune to fall into the hands of the Cheka stood a very good chance of finding himself confronted with, and very possibly shot by, a Jewish investigator", и т.д.
И еще одна история из этой же монографии, о Еврейском комиссариате при наркомнаце:
Ilya Dobkovskii, Dimanshtain's vice-commissar, was a Left SR who had been designated by that party as its representative in Evkom. Dobkovskii announced himself a writer and in his brief tenure wrote a book on Moses Hess, attacking the latter as a Utopian socialist but acknowledging that for his "humanitarian" nationalism he deserved "the deepest respect." 71 It was soon discovered that Dobkovskii had worked for the tsarist secret police as an agent-provocateur, and some asserted that he had been converted to Christianity. Dobkovskii was immediately removed from his post.72
То, что бывшему агенту полиции новые власти были не рады, вполне понятно. Но что (возможное) крещение станет отягчающим обстоятельством ПРИ СОВЕТСКОЙ ВЛАСТИ...!!!
И да, упомянутый здесь Диманштейн - тот самый раввин со смихой от р. Хаима-Озера Гродзeнского, о котором мы в свое время писали.
